Axl Rose recalls friendship with Lisa Marie Presley at her funeral
Axl Rose felt honoured to have the chance to speak and play at Lisa Marie Presley’s funeral service on January 22, Sunday.
Rose said, “I wanted to do right by her, her family, and the fans. It means a lot… I was pretty nervous and emotional up there.”

Axl joined a large group of loved ones, pals, and admirers on Sunday at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee, to honour the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley. Rose sang “November Rain,” one of Lisa Marie’s favourite songs, in her honour.
He explains why he was asked to perform the 1991 single of the band: “It was my belief, she talked about whether the circumstance… so that is why I was asked to do it. I was required to be here, of course.”
Axl approached the stage during the service and gave a heartfelt speech about his friend before playing the piano and performing an emotional piece.
Axl said, “I could never have envisioned singing here, especially in these conditions. That is really devastating.”

The performer talked about Lisa Marie’s devotion to her family and how crucial it was to her that she preserve Elvis’ legacy.
As Kaia Gerber, Austin Butler and Ashley Butler attended the ceremony with him, Rose also mentioned the significance of Baz Lurhmann’s film Elvis.
“She was also very pleased with the Elvis movie, the way she thought it portrayed her father, and the effort everyone involved put into making it,” he continued.
Following the passing of her son Benjamin Keough in 2020, Lisa Marie’s mission to aid others was mentioned by Axl.
Then Axl performed an intense cover of Guns N’ Roses’ “November Rain.”
Alanis Morissette and Billy Corgan also gave performances in Lisa Marie’s honour.
ET can confirm that Lisa was buried in Graceland’s Meditation Garden next to her son. On January 12, 54-year-old Lisa Marie passed away following a heart arrest.
