Edmonton Oilers beats Chicago Blackhawks by 6-5

The Edmonton Oilers are a professional ice hockey team based in Edmonton. The Oilers compete in the National Hockey League as a Pacific Division of the Western Conference member.

On Thursday, Mc David’s hat trick and Draisaitl’s late goal ended the Chicago Blackhawk’s winning stake. Leon Draisaitl scored the tiebreaking goal with 37.6 seconds left.

Zach Hyman opened scoring 10:29 into the first period, finishing off a great pass from Connor McDavid to put the Oilers up 1-0.

Andreas Athanasiou made it 1-1 about three minutes later. Jarred Tinordi forced a turnover behind the Blackhawks net and Max Domiā€™s outlet pass found Athanasiou for a breakaway that he finally finished on.

Patric KaneĀ scored on a rebound with 3:11 remaining to tie at 5 after McDavid put Edmonton ahead 5-4 at 10:16 of the third period to complete his hat trick. Connor McDavid beat defensemanĀ jake McCabe in the slot and danced in to score Edmontonā€™s third power-play goal of the night.

McDavidĀ scored three goals and added an assist in his 12th career hat trick and second this season.

Ryan Nugent-HopkinsĀ had a goal and two assists, and Zach HymanĀ also scored for Edmonton. Nugent-Hopkins and Hyman each scored in their third straight game as Edmonton (5-3-0) won for the fourth time in five.

Nice guy Reese Johnson cleaned up Seth Jonesā€™ rebound to give Chicago a 2-1 lead 15:38 in the 1st period.

Eighteen seconds into the second period was all it took for McDavid to tie the game again at 2-2. Evan Bouchardā€™s outlet pass found McDavid, who almost casually entered the zone before sniping from the left circle.

Athanasiou tied it at 1 with 6:40 left in the period, completing a breakaway set up by Domiā€™s stretch pass. Athanasiou got his 200th career point when he tucked a backhand shot under Campbell.

Johnson put Chicago ahead 2-1 just 2:18 later, stuffing in a rebound.

1:15 later, Jonathan Toews restored the Blackhawks lead to 3-2 on the power play after redirecting a beautiful feed from Domi.

McDavid tied it at 3 with a 4-on-3 power-play goal at 8:28. His shot from the left side struck Stalockā€™s mask, then flipped over the goalie into the net.

In the showdown, with just 38 seconds remaining in the game, Draisaitl scored the game-winning goal to give the Oilers the 6-5 victory.
