Peter Jackson discussed the new Lord of the Rings films from WB
Peter Jackson and his co-writers Philippa Boyens & Fran Walsh react to the news of additional “LORD OF THE RINGS” movies.
“ We are interested in talking with them more to learn about their future plans for the franchise.”
The upcoming Lord of the Rings films, revealed earlier today, are the subject of discussions between Peter Jackson and Warner Bros.
The forthcoming Lords of The Rings films will not get directed by Jackson, who also produced the Oscar-winning Hobbit trilogy and the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
But, according to Sources, the director and his co-authors Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are in contact with the production company and Embracer Group, who, in August 2022, purchased the IP rights to Lord of the Rings, based on a novel by J.R.R. Tolkien.

New Line and Warner Bros. are returning to Middle-earth, which now has a new owner
Warner Bros. and New Line are returning to Middle-earth, and the company has made a contract that will allow them to generate new content.
During a significant buying binge, the Swedish Embracer Group purchased the rights to the Lord of the Rings movie, merchandising, theme park attraction, game, and live show.
During this time, the corporation also purchased the video game-related companies Tripwire Interactive & Limited Run Games.
However, the Lord of the Rings television rights is not its property. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power debuted on Prime Video in 2022 and got made using those TV rights that Amazon presently controls.
The Rings of Power, a precursor that sets up events in Tolkien’s novels, including the creation of the Rings of Power and Sauron’s corruption, is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth.
Peter Jackson argues that Amazon first contacted him and then failed to follow up, even though he had no involvement with the production. Despite receiving negative reviews, the Rings of Power has become Prime Video’s most-watched program.
Why Peter Jackson Should Be Re-Involved in Future Lord of the Rings Movies
In 2001, when they released the Academy Award-winning Fellowship of the Ring, Walsh, Peter Jackson, and Boyens disproved that The Lord of the Rings was too complex ever to receive a commendable adaptation.
Jackson’s vast trilogy would win enormous praise and bring a new audience to Tolkien’s iconic fantasy novels. Jackson’s original trilogy continues to be the standard against which all other fantasy movies are often judged, frequently ranking highly on “best of” lists.
It is not surprising that Warner Bros. has retained Jackson and his scriptwriters aware of their intentions of coming back to Middle-earth, given this kind of prior success.
It is comforting to know that the trio is being contacted, even though their remarks do not necessarily imply that they are personally participating in the upcoming Lord of the Rings films.
No movie directors are better prepared to take on these most recent projects given their experience on The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies.
Netflix is now streaming Jackson’s acclaimed Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
