Joaquin Phoenix is set to return as Joker in “Joker: Folie à Deux,”
Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga will portray the Joker and Harley Quinn, respectively, in the upcoming Joker sequel, “Joker: Folie à Deux.”
When it got released in October 2019, Joker broke records for R-rated movies at the box office, and its sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, is expected to have an even more significant impact.
Joaquin Phoenix may have found his match in Lady Gaga, who will play Harley Quinn, even though Todd Phillips has kept much of the details of the sequel under wraps.

The next movie’s director and co-writer, Todd Phillips, unveiled a photo showing Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, a.k.a. the Joker, in December last year. In preparation for the eagerly anticipated debut next year, the production is thus well underway.
Lady Gaga strolled through the city streets wearing casual attire in the latest set photo. So, she still needs to dress as Harley Quinn fully. Her character’s name in the movie still needs to be made public.
For instance, will they use Harley Quinn as her real name or Harleen Quinzel, her comic book alter ego? Seeing the filmmakers interpret DC comic book lore for this movie should be interesting.
The sequel’s plot is still being concealed. The movie gets anticipated to include musical performances, though. The subtitle of the film also alluded to a form of collective lunacy. As a result, the movie will probably focus on the interaction between Arthur Fleck, aka the Joker, and aspiring psychiatrist Harleen Quinzel. Moreover, Arkham Asylum gets anticipated to host the majority of the narrative.
With twists and turns, the first movie offered a fascinating character study and alternative perspective on Batman’s longstanding foe. As a result, it will be interesting to see how Phillips reimagines the relationship between the Joker and Harley Quinn for his forthcoming movie.
The first movie won two Oscars, including Best Actor for Joaquin Phoenix, who starred in it. There will be much to live up to for Joker II titled, Joker: Folie a Deux. The advantage of these movies is that they are independent of other large-scale cinematic interpretations of these figures. The Joker movies take place in a distinct, separate timeline.
Joker: Folie à Deux is now filming in Los Angeles, while specific sequences will also be shot in New Jersey. In Newark and Jersey City, New Jersey, several Joker sequences were filmed in 2018.
Joker: Folie à Deux started filming in December 2022. On December 10, 2022, director Todd Phillips posted a picture of actor Joaquin Phoenix dressed as the Joker with the message, “Day 1. Joker 2.” As of March 2023, the movie is under development, and the shooting continues.

On October 4, 2024, the movie “Joker: Folie a Deux” is expected to hit the theatre.
In the follow-up, Zazie Beets returns as Sophie Dumond. Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Brendan Gleeson, and Harry Lawtey are all new actors in the ensemble. Their forthcoming project’s roles have not yet been made public.
