Jenna Ortega & Camila Mendes will play sisters in A24’s film ‘Alba’
Jenna Ortega and Camila Mendes are the lead protagonists in the upcoming drama “ALBA” (by Francisca Alegria) from A24.
The trendiest name in Hollywood right now might be Jenna Ortega. After completing her first season of the record-breaking Netflix series Wednesday, the actress is preparing for another battle with Ghostface in Scream VI.
“Wednesday,” the Addams Family drama with their daughter, returned to prominence because of Netflix and Tim Burton. The platform’s original series, produced by the well-known filmmaker Edward Scissorhands, rose to one of the most popular shows last year.
The show’s second season, which got delayed due to Jenna Ortega, it’s lead actress, having to negotiate a new contract, was finally ordered by the streaming service after a protracted wait.
But it has been more complex to play Wednesday. The actress admitted that she experienced some highly stressful times during filming, between cello lessons and long days of shooting.

The play “The House of Bernarda Alba” by Federico Garcia Lorca inspired the movie. By placing the space on the fringes of Miami, the narrative modernizes it.
The storyline is based on Bernarda Alba, who subjects her daughters to a strict, customary grieving period after her husband’s passing.

Jenna Ortega has had a bright career so far
Season 1 of Wednesday featured its namesake protagonist, played by the great Jenna Ortega, as she faced demons literally and figuratively. The story also included a fair mix of supernatural and family issues.
It seems that Wednesday has tied lovely little bows on her friendships, sexual connections, and mysterious murder mysteries, proving somewhat effective in her undertakings.
Jenna’s career path swiftly changed to horror with a role in Insidious 2 after a brief appearance in Iron Man 3. Yet there’s no denying that Netflix’s involvement in her career was the deciding factor.
The actress later appeared in You, one of the most popular productions on the site, after playing a more significant role in Yes Day with Jennifer Garner. She appeared in the critically praised independent film “The Fallout” at the same time when she showcased her acting prowess.
Her moment to shine came in 2022 when she landed the lead roles in Scream (2022) and on X, which ultimately made her, along with one of her castmates, Mia Goth, one of the contemporary horror queens.
She became one of the most sought-after actors thanks to the announcement of her transformation into Wednesday Addams and the confirmation of Scream 6.
In addition to returning for a second season of Wednesday and probably for a seventh iteration of Scream, Ortega already has another four films confirmed for the next three years. They will surely be just a handful in a long list of projects that await her.
