Who is the voice of venom: The source of the venom’s voice.

Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, Venom is a fictional character who predominantly appears in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU) media franchise and is voiced by Tom Hardy. Introduced in Venom (2018), Venom is portrayed as a symbiote that bonds with human investigative journalist Eddie Brock after arriving on Earth.

The pair later transforms into the Lethal Protector and fights with Riot, Venom’s former team member, and later his son, Carnage. They are the character’s second portrayal in a movie, following Spider-Man 3’s symbiote-encased Spider-Man and Topher Grace and Tobey Maguire’s respective portrayals of Eddie Brock/Venom (2007).

The character has appeared in three movies as of 2022: Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, an uncredited cameo in Chen’s Market, a web series, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, a movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) (both 2021). In a third movie, Hardy will resume his role. Critics received mixed reviews of his performance as the character in Venom.

Idea and production

Randy Schueler, a Marvel Comics fan from Norridge, Illinois, created the concept for giving Spider-Man a new look. Editor-in-chief Jim Shooter wrote to Schueler in 1982 to express interest in his concept, and it was Shooter came up with the concept of a black-and-white suit. Before appearing as Venom in the 300th issue, “The Alien Costume” originally appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #252 (May 1984).

Due to cultural concerns regarding David Michelinie’s suggestion of a villain consisting of an alien symbiote grafted into the body of a human female that forced him to conceive a male character by editor Jim Salicrup, Eddie Brock, the next host of Venom, was created for the 300th issue of The Amazing Spider-Man in May 1988.

Brock made his official debut in The Amazing Spider-Man #300, by Michelinie and Todd McFarlane, alongside Venom, initially presented as his alter-ego rather than as a distinct living being. Brock was later retconned[when?] to have the first appearance as a hand in Web of Spider-Man #18 (September 1986).

Casting and revival

Tom Hardy was already interested in Venom when he was asked to play the part since his son loved the comic book character.
Sony gave the Venom movie new life in March 2016. It was intended to stand alone and establish its own franchise independent of Sony and Marvel Studios’ MCU Spider-Man movies. When Sony revealed that Tom Hardy would play Eddie Brock/Venom in the movie in May 2017, it launched a brand-new shared universe that would subsequently be known as “Sony’s Spider-Man Universe.”

After Hardy left Triple Frontier (2019) in April, Sony saw “an opportunity to court an in-demand talent” and promptly cast Hardy, whose son was a big Venom fan. For some speeches, such as “We are Venom,” Brad Venable’s voice was blended with Tom Hardy’s to give Venom’s suffering, and grunting sounds in the film Venom. Hardy agreed to appear in three Venom movies, including Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021).

Many analysts anticipated Hardy to reprise his roles in the MCU movie Spider-Man: No Way Home after the Let There Be Carnage mid-credits scene depicted Brock and Venom being transported from their realm into the MCU (2021).

Despite negotiations about including Hardy in the film’s final battle, Hardy ultimately played Brock in the mid-credits sequence. After the scene, the character unintentionally discards a fragment of the Venom symbiote in the MCU.

Characterization

Venom and Brock share a connection that filmmaker Ruben Fleischer refers to as a “hybrid.” This contrasts a werewolf or Jekyll and Hyde, who have dual personalities. This indicates that they are part of the same body and work together on various projects.

This disparity piqued Hardy’s interest, and he couldn’t help but notice some striking parallels between the two characters and the animated duo Ren and Stimpy. Hardy gave Eddie an American accent described as “aw-shucks,” while he gave Venom a voice reminiscent of James Brown’s lounge lizard and was subsequently “adjusted to look eviler.”

Eddie was given an American accent that was described as “aw-shucks.” This is the voice that Hardy used for Venom when he created the character. Hardy depicts Venom as an antihero who is willing to “do anything he has to” to achieve the goals he has set out for himself in the narrative. Venom is a member of the symbiote species known as the evil symbiote.

Andy Serkis, who directed the film Let There Be Carnage, referred to the stage of the couple’s relationship in which they currently find themselves as the “Odd Couple stage.” Venom is currently imprisoned in Brock’s body, and all the symbiote wants to do is earn the reputation of being the “Lethal Protector.” Due to this circumstance, Eddie cannot go to work and cannot begin to put the pieces of his life back together.
