Sébastien Pilote’s film, Maria Chapdelaine, will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), whose 46th edition will begin on September 9.

In fact, the film was selected in the Contemporary World Cinema section, whose programming was announced this morning.
New adaptation for the cinema of the novel by Louis Hémon, the film stars Sara Montpetit (Maria), Sébastien Ricard (Samuel Chapdelaine), Hélène Florent (Laura Chapdelaine), Antoine Olivier Pilon (Eutrope Gagnon), Émile Schneider (François Paradis ), Robert Naylor (Lorenzo Surprenant), Martin Dubreuil, Danny Gilmore, Gabriel Arcand and Gilbert Sicotte.
For his fourth feature film, Sébastien Pilote works, as usual, with cinematographer Michel La Veaux. Jean Babin is in the artistic direction, Francesca Chamberland in the creation of the costumes and Philippe Brault in the musical composition.
After her appearance on TIFF (September 9-18), Maria Chapdelaine will hit theaters in Quebec on September 24.
