India claims to have killed Lashkar-e-Taiba commander

India has demanded the assassination of a top commander of the Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The Lashkar-e-Taiba commander was killed in a gunfight with Indian troops in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Tuesday, NDTV reported.

The dead were identified as Abu Zarara and a Pakistani national.

Tensions have been high in Indian-administered Kashmir for the past two days. On Monday, the Indian army killed a gunman in Kashmir. Later in the night, a surprise attack took place after the army. According to local Indian media reports, the army and police in Jammu and Kashmir launched a joint operation on the basis of secret information. At that moment, an armed man opened fire on the joint forces and tried to flee. The man was killed in a counter-attack by joint forces.

An AK-47, four magazines, a grenade, a bag and some Indian rupees were recovered from the spot.
