If you don’t get vaccinated, don’t pay for the treatment yourself

The Singapore government will not pay the medical bills of those who did not take the corona vaccine on purpose from next month. The country is currently going through the worst time since the global corona outbreak. Now every day there are two to three thousand people being infected with corona, and a few are dying.

The Singapore government always bears the medical expenses of its citizens. In addition, the government of Singapore pays for the treatment of coronavirus-infected people from other countries in certain categories. However, within a short time of coming from abroad, those who are identified as corona in their body, have to bear the cost themselves.

The country’s health ministry said on Monday that corona patients who have not been vaccinated voluntarily will have to pay their corona treatment bills from December 6.

A statement from the ministry said, “Most of the coronary patients admitted to the hospital who are in intensive care are not vaccinated. And because of this there is a huge pressure on our healthcare. They can also pay for medical expenses through private insurance.

Those who are not eligible for vaccination, such as children under the age of 12 or due to various health problems, will be fully funded by the government.

Singapore is one of the leading countries in the world in providing vaccines. Eighty-five percent of the 5.5 million people in the country have been vaccinated. Corona delta type has spread in the country in recent months.

Singapore’s health minister Aung San Suu Kyi has said she will have to pay for her treatment from December 6 if she is not vaccinated against the corona virus. “This is an important warning for those who have not yet been vaccinated,” he said.

He was speaking at a press conference of the Task Force on Covid-19 on Monday (November 8). At the same time, he said, the hospitals would like to ensure that they do not have to treat anyone who falls ill as a result of not getting vaccinated. So he urged everyone to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Most of the Corona patients who have had to undergo ICU treatment in Singapore in recent times have not been vaccinated. So the country’s government has decided to reduce the pressure on the health sector.

The government of Singapore currently bears the cost of Covid-19 treatment for all citizens. According to the new rules, the government will not pay for the treatment of those who have contracted corona after December 8, even though they have not been vaccinated.

The health minister further said that even then the corona sufferers will get the health assistance provided by the government, as the government subsidizes in this case.

However, those who are not eligible to be vaccinated, such as children under the age of 12 or are unable to be vaccinated due to medical reasons, will have their medical expenses borne by the government as before. This rule will continue until the corona virus situation returns to normal.
