The Case Study of Vanitas Season 2 Release Date may be a few Months Away!
When it was announced that Vanitas would be taking a three-month vacation from broadcasting, fans knew they could look forward to Vanitas Part 2 debuting on January 14, 2022, the start of the Winter 2022 season of anime.
How do you explain a split-court? As a refresher, “cour” is a three-month block of TV programming based on the physical seasons, which typically consists of 10 to 13 episodes.
A “split-cour” is a hiatus of many months between episodes of a single season of an anime. To name just a few, there’s Part 2 of That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Season 2; Moriarty the Patriot’s final season; Re:second ZERO’s season; Mushoku Tensei’s second season; and Part 2 of Attack on Titan’s fourth season.
Only in extremely unusual circumstances would the second half of a split-course anime series be formally labelled as a second season. Even though 86 Part 2 was planned in advance, as the first part concluded, it was stated that the continuation would be 86 Season 2.
All 24 episodes of The Case Study of Vanitas Part 2 are already numbered, therefore it should be included in the first season. This season would be a 24-episode anime divided into eight Blu-Ray/DVD discs, the official website stated in advance.
Season one of the anime began in Summer 2021, during the anime season. The Case Study of Vanitas Episode 12 will be released on September 18, 2021, the mid-season finale.
It was on January 14, 2021, when Case Study of Vanitas Episode 13 was released. On April 1, 2022, the last episode of The Case Study of Vanitas, Episode 24, was released.
Part 2 of the new story arc has been included as of February 26, 2022.
Part 2 trailer and OP/ED information have been added as of December 22, 2021.
The Case Study of Vanitas, Part 2 will be released on January 14, 2022, as previously reported on December 3, 2021.
It was revealed on September 17th, 2021, that the second part will be released in the winter of 2022.
On August 6, 2021, we added the release date for the English dub of The Case Study of Vanitas.
The Case Study of Vanitas Season 2 (Vanitas no Karte Season 2/Vanitas no Carte Season 2) and all relevant news are included in this comprehensive article. We will continue to add to this post with the latest information, rumours, and analysis. In the meanwhile, let’s take a closer look at the facts.

The Case Study Of Vanitas Season 2 is expected to be out sometime in the future.
The Case Study of Vanitas Season 2 release date has not been officially announced by Aniplex, Square Enix, Studio Bones, or any other organisation involved in the production of the anime. No news on a Vanitas 2 has been made either.
As soon as the news is officially confirmed, this article will be updated.
Meanwhile, it’s hard to guess when Vanitas no Carte Season 2 will be released or even if it will be.
The Case Study of Vanitas evaluations have been overwhelmingly positive, with the first episode receiving an average rating of 4.5 out of 5. The Beast of Gevaudan narrative arc, not the Mikhail tale arc, is the reason why Vanitas Part 2 did so well, and manga fans have been pleased with the adaptation thus far.
But even if it’s a commercial success, anime has already surpassed its original material in quality. A second season of a single-episode manga will take at least many years to come to fruition.
Also, providing the next plot arc does not go on for too long, that is. It’s probable that Vanitas Season 2’s adaptation of the story arc would need more chapters in order to reach a satisfactory conclusion. Since we shouldn’t hear anything for at least three or four years, anime enthusiasts should brace themselves for the long haul.
Comparing the Manga and Anime Versions of Vanitas
Creator Jun Mochizuki used the case study series The Case Study of Vanitas as inspiration for the anime’s storyline (Mochijun). Her most well-known work is the manga series Pandora Hearts, which was subsequently translated into an anime television series with similar success.
In December 2015, Square Enix’s Monthly Gangan Joker began serialising the Vanitas manga. Up till Chapter 51 of Volume 9, the manga was released in June 2021.
Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the author has declared a 2020 break from The Case Study of Vanitas. The inventor was worried about the safety of her helpers as they travelled to and from work each day in their cars. During the six-month hiatus, no signs of viral infection were found among the designer or her helpers.
Yen Press is the North American publisher of the official English version. New chapters of The Case Study of Vanitas manga are released digitally on Yen Press’ website at the same time as the Japanese publication.
There is a six-month gap between the Japanese release and the release of the physical volumes. Volume 8 of the English translation was released in May 2021.
When the TV show’s producers appeared at Aniplex Online Fest 2021, they discussed character designs and their approach to animation. As Vanitas is such a dynamic character, they discussed how important face expressions and interactions were to the plot.
Studio Bones has faithfully reproduced the manga in its adaptation. A panel-by-panel adaptation isn’t exactly what it is, but it’s close enough. There were some small changes to page events in the first three episodes as a transition between episodes.

In Episode 1, the tempo was deliberately slow in order to enable time for character development and worldbuilding. After then, a bit more than two chapters each of Episodes 2 and 3 were adapted.
As a rule, each episode of the first part of the adaptation had a little less than two-chapter pace. Ending with Episode 12, we were introduced to the long Beast of Gevaudan storyline, which will run through Season 3’s second half.
From Chapter 21 through the first several pages of Chapter 43, The Case Study of Vanitas modified the material for Episodes 13 through 19. Malnomen, or “theatres of ice and snow,” are walled chambers constructed from memories where the captives experience an eternally repeated show until their hearts are shattered. Unfortunately, this accelerated pacing left out important elements.
Despite the importance of these moments to the story, they were either reduced or completely omitted. The most significant alteration was the development of Chloe’s past, which clarified her emotional connection to her family and the reasons for her sense of isolation following their deaths.
As if Chloe had been locked up in the castle, the anime acted as if she was inaccessible. The manga revealed how much the family loved for her, despite the fact that she lived apart from them.
Story!
Chloe was personally visited by a bizarrely attired Marquis Machina at her castle by the manga’s Marquis Machina, who had only been hinted to in one still shot during the anime. Marquis Machina revealed how Jeanne’s parents had betrayed Ruthven and how he had lost his right sight. Chloe was offered the chance to live among the vampires by Marquis Machina, but she refused to leave her beloved family behind.

Ruthven choked Chloe some 30 years after Marquis Machina returned to the scene of the crime in a Japanese puppet costume… After being adopted by the family of Grand Duke Oriflame’s son, Ruthven was able to enter the senate and become a senator.
Chloe was given the chance to dwell among the vampires once more by Marquis Machina. In the aftermath of the Babel catastrophe, a new dimension known as the Altus was created, where vampires may live in peace. Chloe once again rejected the offer of Atlus, which was how the vampires and humans had learnt to cohabit.
By making it appear as though obsessive vampire hunters were really behind the Beast, the anime managed to make the shocking revelation seem less shocking. A vampire hunter apprehended by Chloe once prompted the Marquis Herman D’Apchier to conduct an investigation. After the Marquis, his wife, and their kid were all murdered by the Church as a result, the Church retaliated. In the end, the Marquis’ daughter was the only survivor, and she blamed Chloe for the deaths, much as Chloe blamed herself for the murder of her family.
Characters:
Additionally, Marquis Machina explained the circumstances of Jeanne’s parents’ execution to Chloe at their initial meeting. It was decided to move Jeanne’s origin story into another scene when she’s telling her own story as a borreau. When Ruthven lost his sight, it wasn’t made apparent that his parents were collaborating with humans to destroy the vampires who were looking for peace.
This betrayal by Jeanne’s parents was the root of her feelings of remorse against Lord Ruthven and Master Luca, prompting her to avoid further troublemaking. When Vanitas asked Jeanne if she really intended to kill Chloe, she was thinking about her parents’ treachery.
Instead than dumping a lot of information on readers at once, the manga teased out bits and pieces of background material on the hunter paladin Astolfo Granatum. Both Chapters 35 and 41 were included into Astolfo’s confrontation with Noe in the anime.
Astolfo’s family was slowly tortured and killed by a group of vampires after Astolfo helped a wounded vampire who was being pursued by chasseurs in Chapter 41, friendly chasseur Roland Fortis explained. Astolfo’s backstory was given a lot of attention in the anime, which was surprising given how much of the previously mentioned content was condensed or skipped.
For the Vanitas-Noe battle, several sequences in the last Mikhail plot arc were omitted to make room for them. When it comes to Number 70 and the Senate council meeting when Domi’s other sibling was presented, the anime conveniently omitted any mention of it.
Plot!
All in all, it is expected that the conclusion, The Case Study of Vanitas Episode 24, would end at manga Chapter 55.5.
It was the most satisfying climax since we learned what drove Vanitas to strike against Luna and the Blue Moon family. They may have been slain by Vanitas when their real names were taken, leaving her sad and bewildered. Since he and Mikhail would ultimately transform into monstrous monsters if they continue to utilise their books, it is now all about retribution and a suicide mission.
Domi’s grandpa, the Shapeless One, turned out to be the puppet master, as did Noe’s teacher. Saint Germain (the previous Marquis de Sade now that Domi’s father has the title) appears to have been spying on them through Murr’s eyes, since the cat and the instructor share the same different-colored eyes. Perhaps the Shapeless One is a shapeshifter!?
The bad news is that the manga had only reached Chapter 55.5 by February 23, 2022, meaning that the anime’s conclusion had caught up to the manga fully. Based on her tweets, it appears like the manga and animation teams worked together to make this happen.
Since Lord Ruthven and the first Crimson Moon Vampire, Queen Fuastina, remain unresolved, the narrative is far from complete. It appears that The Shapeless One is attempting to raise Luna from the dead. There is also Naenia, the vampire queen’s evil doppelgänger, who is still loose and doing havoc.
For English-only manga readers, the good news is that, when new chapters are released, digital downloads allow them to read ahead of the animation.
